RUBRINGS / SELECTION & SUPPLY
Rubber gaskets & extrusion profiles
Specify rubber gaskets, washers, grommets, custom moulded parts and extruded rubber products using a drawing and application requirements.
Rubber gaskets, washers and grommets
Rubber seals come in different profiles because the assembly and function differ. Start with a drawing that shows how the component fits.
- Rubber gaskets
- Give the outline, bolt-hole pattern, thickness, mating surfaces, medium and compression arrangement.
- Rubber washers
- State ID, OD and thickness, plus whether the washer is intended for sealing, spacing or cushioning.
- Rubber grommets
- Include the panel hole, panel thickness, cable or tube diameter and retention requirements.
Custom molded rubber products
For a shaped moulded component, supply all critical dimensions, tolerances, inserts or bonded parts, material and hardness. Describe the operating environment, mechanical load and inspection requirements. Source feasibility and tooling must be confirmed before supply.
Extruded rubber products
Rubber extrusion profiles are defined by their cross-section as well as cut length and any joining requirement. A profile sketch should identify sealing faces, attachment features and dimensional tolerances.
Rubber cords
For a round cord, specify diameter, material, required length and intended use. If it will be joined into a ring, include the joining and acceptance requirements rather than treating cord as an approved finished seal.
